Hi there, We are planning to travel to Yunnan very soon in mid-May. We will be arriving in Kunming, after a few days we're planning to fly to Diqing/Zhongdian in Shangri la. There are four of us travelling together. I would much appreciate if anyone who have been to Shangri la can give us some tips how we can arrange for a car with a driver to take us around. We also need hotel recommendation in this place. After Shangri la we are thinking of travelling overland to Lijiang. Which is best way to get there. Thanks for your tips. AL

hi, al, maybe you can find some information here: http://www.chinaonline.cn.com/ i'm not so familiar with the transportation there, i went there with a group of others and we hired a bus from travel agency. it's a long way from zhongdian to lijiang. shangri-la is just a name of the place, means paradise. if you go in this season, i guess there should be all flowers. good luck and have fun

Lijiang is situated in the northwest of Young Province, south of the Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain, and at the upper reaches of the Jinsha River. This is also the first bend on the Changjiang River, better known as Tiger Leaping Gorge. More information please visit http://www.muztagh.com/
