Since years of old, civilisation has progressed to this modern age at varying rate. How do we know at what rate a civilisation has progressed ? Is there any rough indication of how far say, the Chinese civilisation has progressed ? I think I have the layman's answer to this. But what u think ??

In the past, a country tend to have a group of homogenous people borne & bred there & each having certain common/basic characteristics - it was synonymous with race of people. With colonisation, immigration, globalisation, inter-race marraiges, etc, this has somewhat changed. Nonetheless, it is still not difficult to pinpoint the main races of Chinese, the Indian, the Greek, Jews, Middle-east, etc regardless of where they reside in. Civilisation set in since the existence of Man. But the civilisation progress rate of each group of people varies. How can we make an attempt to measure the progress in civilisation of each group of people & at which state of the civilisation ladder they are at ? Science/technological advancement are knowledge & may not be a good measurement of the civilisation progress rate. It merely reflects the mental capability of a handful of top people of that nation who may or may not be of the country's homogenous group or race. On the background that MAN's civilisation evolved from his early barbaric & animalistic stage, then how far we have moved away from this early stage would mean how civilised we are. Time is not necessarily a critical criteria in civilisation progress. Thus we can measure where we stand in the ladder on the following basis :- (a) Body hair - animals generally have a lot of hair all over its body. So did MAN. But as MAN climbed up the ladder of civilisation, they gradually discarded theirr body hair - ie the less NATURAL body hair the group of people have, the further they have moved away from their animalistic age. (b) Odour - animals generally have odour. Likewise, most people have odour too. The stronger NATURAL odour a people have, the nearer they are to their animalistic stage. (c) Violent nature - like their early forefathers, uncivilised people tend to resort to violence than reasons. Civilised people prefer talking reasons to convince to using power to overcome. Make sense ? So where do you think the Chinese people are on the Civilisiation ladder ? Hahaha !!! PS - 1. The above are but a layman's views & may not be taken as truth and factual. It may not be the only measurement method. 2. No offence intended to any particular group of people or individuals. 3. Btw, the author is totally hairless, odourless & "yap yap" a lot !!

Am quite surprised to receive no comments on this ! I think I know why - there is no basis for comparison by the locals. U don't know where u stand. OK, let me tell u my rating. The Chinese civilisation based on the 3 criteria is there right on the very TOP of the ladder. I have come across many types of people & many of whom at rather close range(not intimate). There are the hairy type, the smelly type & of cos the violent type. Whether they shave off their armpit hair or their bushes, they look like a gorilla with hair all over. Even their gals spot hairy arms/legs. There are those who try to camouflage their odour by using cologne or perfume. But u can still smell them within 3 feet. And there are those who turn violent either physically or in words and u can see them in this Community too - esp when challenged, agitated, embarassed or cornered. These people are at the bottom or at best middle of the ladder. Generally Chinese are free of the above.
