I will be in China (Suzhou) in August for a short time and am wondering which of the following cities I should visit.
Guilin
Huangshan
Chengdu
May only be able to visit one due to the length of my trip.

Huangshan is more close to Suzhou than other places. If u don't have enough time, u may go to Huangshan.

maybe 2 to 3 weeks but will spend most of my time in Suzhou

Yes, I agree with Wocca. You can try every all of the places u mentioned before at 2~3 weeks period. But if u have to spend most of the days in Suzhou, u have to make a choice.
Huangshan & Guilin & Chengdu are famous for the beautiful landscape while Chengdu is also famous for the Shu culture & history, delicious snacks & food, leisurable people & life. It's better to read some travel reviews about these places and then make your own choice.

if I were you , Guilin will be my destionation without any doubt !!

Hi Gazza

If it were me, I'd go to Guilin and hop straight on the bus to Yang Shuo. I love it there. It's the perfect place to chill.

GAZZA, I just saw this today.....

I agree 100% with all the other knowledgeable
members here !!

My greatest China 'regret' is that last year, when I was in Nanning, I had the time a great opportunity to make a side trip to [Guilin], and I did not take advantage of this opportunity, because I was enjoying myself too much in Nanning !! (So stupid !!) :) :)

Now that I know more, I am really sorry about this, and thinking about it now, I may have a 'Sleepless in Seattle' moment !! LOL
