Kunming-Beijing by train

We are planning to travel by train from Kunming to Beijing by train 3200km(soft sleeper 2 nights) any experiences of this journey would be welcome.

Wow~ that would be a long journey!!! If I were u, I would not choose train. But if u do have enough time and like to enjoy the train life in China, just do it!!

It is a really long journey. Im sure the scenery will be nice but to tell you the truth you would see more scenery by flying to Kunming and having two extra days to travel. (its cheaper to fly as well)

I've taken several really long trips like this one in China - I think you may enjoy the experience. Flights are more convenient, but often much more expensive. I find rail trips romantic.

why not break it up with two not so long train trips and stopover for a day sightseeing somewhere in between unless you've done all this but
it is a romantic notion and soft sleeper is pretty comfortable too.
