Hi Nagger !!

I am not sure what is your country of origin, as it is not shown on your profile page ??

Here's what I know......As an American.

1. Only the Consulate of PR China, can issue a Visa to visit PR China. A travel agency cannot issue a Visa for the PR of China. There are agencies who, for a fee, will do the foot work for you, but they do not issue or approve the visa.

I use a company in Houston, 'Passports Plus', wherein I express mail my Passport and Chinese Visa application form and necessary fees to them, and then they hand carry the documents to the Chinese Consulate in Houston, TX and then in 2 or 4 days, they express mail my Passport with tourist Visa back to me.

As far as time limits: For a regular Tourist Visa it is only 30 days. You can pay extra for a double entry Tourist Visa, which will give you [two] 30 day periods with a break between the second entry. I am told you can step across the border into HK and then later in the day or next day, re-enter, if you need the full 60 days at the same time. I always break my trips by at least a month or more.

The longer term Visas and for employment and or education purposes etc. They require supporting documentation and letters from hosts etc.

If you are married to a Chinese national, you can also stay longer, with proof of marriage.

In your case, if it is only for travel, with no other purpose, then the 30 day increments is the way for you. I am also told that the Chinese government may evaluate increased time, on a case-by-case basis, subject to their approval.

You can go to the Passports Plus website on-line and click on China Visa, to get all the specifics, I have touched on here.

Hope this helps !!

Hi Rogerinca
As far as I understand you , those agencies in Hong-Kong just do the foot work for me.Is there any chance for me to apply for a six monhs visa by one of these companies paying the fee in advance and then being rejected ?

This is difficult for me to tell you, because I can only speak as an American who has experienced the China Visa process from my perspective and national requirements. I am assuming they are the same whatever country you are from ?? I cannot speculate on what a HK travel agency can do or will do ?? I think you need to contact the closest Consulate of the PR China, to your current location, and get the info from them. I do know, that in America, travel agencies normally do not get into the visa facilitation business too. They leave this to authorized Visa liaison venues, such a Passports Plus, and many others similar in the USA.

If things haven't changed, to get a multi-visits visa, just your local employer's letter of support is required. Don't think agencies can do it for you - unless they are prepared to support u as their staff.
Another way is to apply for single entry each time and if your base is in HK, it is quite easy. There are VisA Offices at most points of entry in China's airports/ferry point. U can apply the visa on the spot - only 15 mins or so it takes. Photo-taking machines are also avail there but better to prepare your own, just in case.
