Traveling during May days

Hi
I'm traveling to Beijing, Xian and Shanghai from May 1 to 7, right during May day holiday. What should I expect? Will everything be closed?
Any info will help.

sorry to say that it won be a trip, toooooooo many ppl will go out, especially the places u will go will be very hot. Also, the expence will be much higher than other time.
Avoid the rush.

No places will be closed during one of the hottest tourist weeks:-)

Yes, no place will be closed. But the hotels and attractions will be full of visitors!

Like all the above answers, I, too would like to echo what they say and persuade you not to travel during the first week of May and October, I don't know what are in others' mind, mine is trying hard to stop others and I go out for a quiet May holidays.
