Hey there, I am on my way to China in a few weeks from South Korea via Ferry.... I am wondering about the visa situation.. I read that it is necessary to have an onward ticket when applying for your visa, Is a confirmed ticket by train to Hong Kong sufficient??? If not can anyone give me some advice on what is the best option. I plan to get a 2 or 3 month visa and buy tickets as I go... thanks all who reads!!! cheers Hamish (New Zealand)

Hello Hamish,

It's not necessary to have a return or onward ticket. I've never been asked to produce one for a visa although to date I have always had one. I plan to return to China in a few months without a return ticket. I know many others who are in the country without outbound tickets.

Have a good trip
