Being the host city of 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing is drawing the attention of the whole world. It is an extremely significant event for all the Chinese as well as people from all over the world.

A few days ago I got a news from TV that Yimou Zhang will be the general director of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Steven Spielberg, the most famous director in Hollywood, will be in work with Yimou Zhang. The whole stuff will bring us a visual and cultural feast, I believe.

I just can't wait to enjoy those wonderful performance.

Hi Pinetree,

You are right. Try to avoid that month to visit Beijing. There will be a huge number of people from all over the world swarming to Beijing in 2008. Air tickets, train tickets and hotel reservations will be very hard to make.

You are smart, Pinetree.

Tibet will be swarmed with tourists as well during that time. I think tourists will take the opportunity to visit China that time - not just to watch the Olympics. So all of China will be crowded.
I think you guys better leave China during that time to visit other countries, if you can !!
I reckon the tour agencies/guides will be so busy then. Wow !!

Hi California,

Why do you plan to leave Beijing for another place? You know that it will be very difficult for people to get into Beijing, but you have the priority. You are now living in Beijing!!!

:)))

Yes, Peacock is right - u should not leave Beijing during that time. It's such a rare opportunity for locals like u.
Use your knowledge of English & your friendliness to make more friends (& maybe money !) during that time.

I was a volunteer during the 100th anniversary of our university. It was a happy memory though a little bit tired.
