A lot of travel these days is done in organised groups. Agents take people on preplanned trips and exposure programmes. They do all the things that tourists seem to do. 'Been there, saw that...'

What I would like to know is some of the experiences of those who have travelled alone or independently and who have gone away from the beaten path. What surprises have they encountered in places where tourists don't normally go? What lovely experiences have they had? I look forward to hearing from such people. Kevin

The government is extremely careful to keep tourists safe since they\'re desperate for cash. It is the local people who are in the most danger.
