Well, some foreign friends seem only know we will have a golden week, but they may not know how the three days off turns out to be a golden week. This is the true color of the Golden Week: We actually get three days off according to the government rules, that is May 1, May 2, and May 3. We work in advance to compensate May 4 and May 5, plus a weekend, that is 7 days. Is it golden enough??:-) Why is everybody as happy as everything, we work 7 days in the previous week, exhausted?? ^_*

Well, it seems that China has a great deal of public holidays compared to most other countries. In Singapore, we have only 11 days in a year of public holidays. HK used to have quite a fair bit of ph too - I think 13-15 days/yr. So we were told that China has 1 week each for May & Oct + 2 weeks for Spring Festival = 1 month ! With playing catch-up in economy, u guys/gals got to work as hard as other countries now. So sorry to hear ! But working hard before to earn extra days together as holiday is not a bad idea. Btw, do employees have entitled "leave" from employers ? We get about 14-21 days' leave a year (on top of the public holidays).

At least we have seven days, not a weekend plus three day. So we can go out to enjoy a trip.

RITA Thanks for that explanation. You must have a better boss than some of my friends if that is the way it will work for you! My friends get the holiday this way. They work the Saturday and Sunday ( today). Then get May 1, 2, 3, 4, off. Then work next Friday, Saturday and Sunday to make up for their 'holiday'. What colour week does this become? Altur
