Certainly, a 8-11 seater MPV/van can be arranged there. Available at airport. Need to bargain + ensure that tolls are included.

Can also travelling there & back via train. It is comfortable and could also be more economical - unless u wanna to roam around in Suzhou.
If decided on taxi MPV/van, ensure u tell them what you want - ie incl city tour at Suzhou, so that all costs are discussed/agreed before hand.

In my opinion, you could rent a car to go there.Or you can by train .Because it is much more safe and comfortbale.

I think by train is a good choice if you do not want to take the plane.

Definitely not a plane between Shanghai and Suzhou, please!
Let me know if you want me to recommend my regular cabbie for the trip.

thank you I would appreciate your regular cabbie's name. Our
mandarin is weak so some english would be great. We are 5
adults and 3 children who want to go to suzhou and
zhouzhuang and spending 2 night in suzhou - we have friends
in suzhou so we can take it from there.

My cabbie's English skills are somewhat limited though, so I usually help by arranging so that nothing goes wrong in the transmission process! Drop me an email at ellyse99ATyahoo.com (substitute @ for AT and include your TravelChinaGuide username as well, thanks!) with more details please, if you're interested. Thanks.

Dear Ellyse,

We last talked when I needed to plan my trip to Yunnan last year at the VirtualTourist.com. We have since done the trip and it was incredible. This year, we're taking the kids to Suzhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou. May I trouble you?

1. I have 5-6 days for these cities. How would you apportion them?
2. Does the bulletin or maglev trains run between them?
3. I am arriving from Beijing to Suzhou on 9th morning....should I depart from Suzhou to Beijing?

Thanks for the help. You're singaporean right?

Wow sorry, I haven't been on this site for about 4 months already.
Shanghai 3 days, Hangzhou 2 days, Suzhou 1 day.
There're many D trains between Shanghai and Suzhou. Take buses between Hangzhou and Suzhou. Take T, D or N trains between Shanghai South train station and Hangzhou main train station.
Don't understand your 3rd question, sorry.

GUEST61210 Hi Ellyse,
I want to take a trip to Suzhou to explore this city. What are the T, D and N trains? What are difference between them? Can I access the Shanghai South Train Station by metro line 4?

Thanks for the help.
