hi, i travelled in china severall times. In my op inion china is too big to try to see it in just a few weeks! visit 2 or maybe 3 provinces, think they are "countrys", and an other year you visit other provinces. Doing this you will not "pass" very interesting sites!! enjoy! miemie

Miemie is right. China is too big to try to see it within a few weeks. Being your first time, suggest you take a look at the main cities for a start. Then to the countryside and other famed places on subsequent visits. Depending on your availaibility of time, I suggest Shanghai, Beijing & Xian - these should take u about 10 days.

I think you could try to change your itinerary into HKG-Sanya-Guilin-Xian-Beijing-Shanghai, if possible, you could try to visit Chengdu. Have a nice journey in China!

Augest is the hottest month in Xian , if you don't have enough time , I suggest Beijing- Shanghai-Guilin(yangshuo)-Hongkong ,and of course as a Xian local ,I warmly welcome you to my city :)

Hi HUNGMINHLE, As for the best transportation, it all depends. If you want to save time, of course flight is the best choice. If you want to know more about Chinese people and have more chance to talk with them, you can take train. Train is a small society. Have a nice trip.

20 days are enough for your trip by train. Good luck!
