Update on former member CALGUY in Sichuan Province

ROGERINCA Points: Join Date: Jun 28, 2005 Status: offline	I have a very good friend, who lives very near to me in a neighboring city, and who was a member here, until about two weeks ago. His (former) member name was CALGUY. Many regular members will most likely remember him; he had a photo posted of himself at his home, standing next to his yellow (Hummer) truck. At the end of April, he traveled from California to China, to visit his Fiancée. He has been in Sichuan Province and in Chengdu for the past week, and will continue his visit until about May 21st. He flew from LAX to Guangzhou, and then last Sunday, he flew to Chengdu to meet his Chinese Fiancée’s large family. He has phoned me almost daily now, to let me know how much he is enjoying his second trip to China (he traveled to Guangzhou, China with me in December for his first visit). He now loves Sichuan Province and Chengdu so very much !! He has already visited the Panda Research Center/Preserve, the Sanxingdui Museum, many of the tea houses, the oldest historic portions of Chengdu, many of the outlaying natural parks, and of course, he has experienced the famous Sichuan Hot Pot cuisine !! As of today, he has visited eight cities in Sichuan Province. In addition to the expert guidance of his Fiancée, who was raised in the Chengdu region, he has had the assistance and expertise of her (very close) Cousin, who is a ranking police official in the Province, who has escorted him to many places of interest, introduced him to many public officials in the Sichuan/Chengdu region, as well as provide him an insight to the workings of local/regional government. He is having the very best time on his three week trip to China, and he is so very appreciative of how well everyone has treated him and how great so many people (most of whom he had never met before) have been in making this trip so meaningful for him. He has been so touched by the warmth and the kindness of all the people he has met in Sichuan Province on this trip. I have known this man for some time now. I have never observed him as excited about anything, as he is now about China !! He told me his life is "changed" with this most recent trip !! He, too, is now ‘hooked’ on China, her history, culture, cuisine, and wonderful people !! My friend Tim, loves China so much !! When he returns to the USA, in two weeks, I will encourage him to rejoin this TCG forum/community, so he can share his experiences and some of the many photos (over 500 so far) he will have taken on this trip. If he didn’t have a young son to care for at home in California, I think he would probably just want to stay in China…… forever !! Tonight, when I spoke to him on the phone, he asked that I share his feelings with the other members of this forum. :) :)

MAY001 Points: Join Date: Sep 28, 2005 Status: Offline	I love Sichuan, too. Especially the cuisine and the low-pressure life style. It is nice to hear that Tim like Sichuan so much. Maybe next time he can visit some other provinces in China.

Tim (Calguy) called me tonight and told me he is still having the absolute best time of his life now, in China !! He and his Fiancée and other family members are at her parent’s home, now making pan fried dumplings, which in America, we call 'Pot Stickers', as served in most Chinese restaurants.

He has looked at some property in the outskirts of town, and he is thinking seriously about buying a home (new apartment) not far from where his future wife’s parents live. He may spend half the year in China and the other half in California. He told me tonight, that I have "forever changed" his life, by introducing him to China late last year !! This reminds me of something member Loveisverb, was speaking of recently !!??

He will travel back to Guangzhou on the 14th, and then spend a week visiting some cities in Guangdong Province, before flying back to Sacramento. He also told me that he fully intended to rejoin the forum and share his photos and experiences with respect to his three week trip to China. :) :)
