hmmm ... RMB800 ... ok, will stay put at SunIsland. As weather seems cool, may play Old and New. spouse has to pay more .. around RMB500 but accom rate is very attractive - only RMB250 for week-day and week-end, its RMB500 (special for members). Downtown rate for a tourist-class hotel is around RMB800 so its a real bargain!

oh... the facilities are not fully operational ...ok, will keep my expectations low then n enjoy the cool air.

Comrade,
Have made a quick research for you as I am afraid that you could be disappointed staying at SunIsland - it is good as a golf course but not sure it's good to stay there overnight - really nothing there to do, I believe. Was there last year this time (didn't stay overnight there tho).
U can consider Huangshan - play at the HuangShan Pine Golf Club @ rmb300 and staying at the Huangshan Golf Hotel. The hotel overlooks the course & u can really sip your wine at the clubhouse with the HuangShan scenic area as a backdrop & reminiscene over your game !
I must say that I have not been there myself - except to Mt Huang & the nearby areas. And yes, u can sightsee the famous mountain & ancient town (Tunxi ?) at the foot of HuangShan.

Hi Pinetree

I'm back! Survived the typhoon (just kidding ... anticipated at the spots where we were but 'fortunately', it hit other areas).

Oops! Didn't catch yr last post re SunIsland ... tks so much for the extra effort. Luckily for us, we didn't go there but stayed at the Astor (or Pu Jiang Hotel) as recommended by one of the forumers.

Before embarking on my trip, I did some last minute reading of several contributions at this forum (thank you all!). Based on yr earlier inputs and the many tips from other helpful travellers, I had retained the flight plans but fine-tuned accom and places to visit/dine.

Guess what?? Out of 10 days, we managed to squeeze in only 3 rounds of golf - very unusual for us ... kekeke ... Next trip, we are not lugging 2 full-set golf bags if there are so much travelling to do - too cumbersome! Will shop for Sunday bags and bring only half-set.

Will file trip report as soon as its ready :)

Cheers!

For a good weekend golf getaway, try HuangShan's Pine & Golf Resort. If u can get member to sign u in, the 2N/3D package staying at 5-star HuangShan Golf resort Hotel if wery good value for money. The course is challenging as well. Currently only 18 holes. By mid next year it will be 36 holes & 54 by end of 2007.
Little HuangShan town is cosy and nice with many pretty local gals around to admire. And u can spend a few days more touring the scenic area incl the mountain tops.
For golf-crazy Singaporeans, u can reach HS via most nearby cities in China by train, big bus or domestic flights. It's reported that it hardly snows at HS (except the mountain tops) & is cool to warm throughout.
I had a great time.
