shanghai to the great wall???

hi guys, ill be traveling to shanghai with my best friend in july. i was wondering what is the cheapest way to get to the Great Wall? if you know the price, that would help...also, while in shaghai, is there anything else we can do besides walking around the city, bund, and shop on nanjing road?

I think take a train is a good choice.
There are a lot of trains. I suggest you to take Z trains with are direct trains from Shanghai to Beijing and cost about 12 hours. You can take Z14, Z22, Z2, Z6 and Z8. The price of soft seat is 283RMB and soft sleeper is 499RMB.
You can also take T trains which will cost you less than 14 hours. You can take T32, T104 and T110. The price for hard seat is 172/179, soft seat 271/283, hard sleeper 312/327 and soft sleeper 476/499.

so i guess going to beijing will cost about 150 US round trip huh. thats not a bad deal. thanks siva... if anyone else have any activities we MUST do in shanghai or beijing please let me know... thanks

In Beijing,you can visit the Forbidden City,Heaven Temple,Lama Temple,Beihai Park......

Watching Beijing Opera,

So many thing are worth to do:-)

Maybe the prices weren't exactly:
Forbidden City:60yuan;
Heaven Temple:35yuan;
Summer Palace:40yuan;
Beihai Park:10yuan;
Lama Temple:25yuan;
Great Wall:every section was differnt from others.

The taxi price of Beijing:

Basic 10yuan,including 3kms,and then 2yuan/km.
