what is the cheapest way to go to Tianjin from Chongqing? Do I have to take a train? How much does it cost?

There isn't direct train from Chongqing to Tianjin,you should transfer in Beijing.

From Chongqing to Beijing,T10,430 for hardsleeper.

And from Beijing to Tianjin,there were many trains.

Hi,Chaotic,

There was another train from Chongqing to Beijing,a slow one,more than 32 hours.

373yuan for hardsleeper,and 194yuan for hardseat.
