Hi Marti, From Oct 31st, 2000, Citizens of the following 21 countries are exempt from visa requirements when they travel to Hainan Province as a group organised by International Travel Agencies that have been set up and registered in Hainan Province. Note: there must be more than 5 people in that travel group. They can stay in Hainan Province within 15 days. These 21 countries are South Korea, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, United States, Singapore, Germany, Thailand, Great Britain, Canada, France, Australia, Indonesia, Sweden, Italy, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Philippines and New Zealand. From January 4th, 2010, China has added Finland, Denmark, Norway, Ukraine and Kazakhstan to the list, which means people from the listed 26 countries need not apply visa when the travel to Hainan Province as a group. Meanwhile, people who come from Russia, South Korea and Germany with valid passports are allowed to stay in Hainan Province for 21 days now. However, they still need to be in a group. The limit on number of people in such a group decreases to 2 people.

When asking about visa requirements it is imperative to indicate what country your passport(s) are from.

If you want to travel alone, I think you may go to apply for tourism visas. It's quite easy. |

You don't need a visa to {Hong Kong,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/hongkong/} because Filipinos are exempt from a visa to Hong Kong for up to 14 days, however, you need a [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa.htm]China Travel Visa[/tcgurl] to Hainan, it is impossible for you to get visa on arrival in Hainan if you don't join a tour organized by a [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/]China Tour Agency[/tcgurl] registered in Hainan

If he travels individually to Hainan, he needs a [tcgurl=http://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/tourist.htm]China Travel Visa[/tcgurl] If he joins group tour to Hainan province, he hold valid ordinary passports and stay in Hainan not exceeding 15 days, he doesn't need a visa to Hainan
