Where are the best places to shop in beijing /Shanghai

We are going to china on a 15 tour in October we have heard the shopping is great in china, we want to know where the best places are to go shopping?
Markets or shopping centres?
What kind of things can we buy? clothes, electrical goods, shoes,ect... it is cheap? we are from Australia!! all feed back welcome!!!!
