I suppose most vegetarians are people who practice compassion for fellow living things by not killing or eating them.

I believe they would never consider killing harmful pests like cockcroaches and mosquitos too. In this case, they may be encouraging the breeding of these harmful pests and causing the general community to suffer.

I think there are 2 schools on turning to vegetarians - 1 for religions reason & the other for health.
For religious reason - it is easy to become a vegetarian but damn difficult not to kill a life, whether intentionally or not; unless lives of small animals, insects, etc are not classified as life.
