How to get from Xi'An to Chongquing?

What is the best way to get there from Xi'An?
Is it possible to take an overnight train? That would be ideal! And then I want to go down the river to Shanghai - if anyone can advise me on where to book tickets for that trip and what the best agency is I'd be very grateful!

Both overnight trains and flights are available from Xi'an to Chongqing. The hardsleeper ticket costs about 120rmb, and softsleeper 190rmb. It takes about 15hours.

You can book the train ticket at the hotel you will stay in Xian at the service charge at about 20~50 yuan per ticket. Book in advance.
