I'm going to China in Sept/Oct and planning Hong Kong, Xian, Beijing in 14 nights. Does this sound reasonable?

Usually 4 nights in Beijing, 3 nights in Xian and 2~3 nights in Hong Kong will be sufficient to cover almost all the major highlights. But if you want to enjoy the cities(with a few side trips) in a more leisurable pace, 14 nights seem quite reasonable.
