You can get snake and insects but oh for some really tasty food with fried dried chillies in it! And let's not equate spicy with hot as there are many delicious spices that are not hot.

Hi Exlife, as Apault said "let's not equate spicy with hot as there are many delicious spices that are not hot". I fully agree with that. If you are only thinking about Sichuan hot and spicy food, then you have not tried other not hot but spicy food. Cantonese cooking do use a lot of spices in certain dishes which bring out and compliment the taste of the food. Hunan food is hot but not spicy. Try some authentic Indian food, they are spicy but not hot and you can taste the various spicy used. Curries from South East Asia are very tasty with the right amount of spices and chillies.
