Hi everybody, I am arriving at Baiyun Airport late in evening (11p.m.) and have to go to Foshan Hotel in Foshan where I have a unpaid booking. Does any body have any idea how to get there? Is the taxi safe? How long does it take? How much does it cost? Is there any other means of transportation? I appriciate everybody who can help me with this, and thank you for your time. Cheers, Mark

Hmmm, arriving so late, and unpaid booking... Which date is it? I hope locals can do some checking, because I really couldn't find any information online. Can't believe that airport of this size and traffic don't have it's own web-site? (got none on Google) I guess taxi wouldn't be best solution (guess Foshan is quite far, and it's quite late). Have some supplier waiting for you? Tomorrow I'm fying from Baiyun, I can ask around directly (although can't promise anything, from previous experiences) In the meantime, hope that some locals will come up with some information. Cheers, Sasha

Thanks a lot Sasha. I appreciate your help. BTW do you think from your previous experiments that taxis are safe in Guangzhou late in the evening? take care, Mark

I don't think safety is the problem... Foshan is qute far, and it's very late, so I guess there will be problem with NEGOTIATING. They might ripp you off, or might just refuse to drive you there since it's another city (my friends experienced both cases, their destination was Panyu, and in both cases had to connect with Chinese friend because of communication problem). Frankly, last time I took taxi from Baiyun was the time when Airport-Express buses still wasn't working (quite long a go and just few times), and situation then with taxis over there was like wild west, they really charged too much. Now I really have no idea since I always take express bus to the city (I see that now outside airport they have clear signs for taxi stands and big notifications for foreigners not to be cheated by the drivers etc etc... so I guess it's better now, or not?) Still, let's see if some local will give more information on this. Which date you said you're arriving?

Mark, I had limited time at Baiyun yesterday, I asked at two Information counters about connections to Foshan, but they didn't helped much... I guess you should try taxi, or stay in Guangzhou city overnight, or tell your supplier/host or whoever it is to assist you on this, at least with reliable information, since they in Foshan should know best how to get there from Baiyun that late. Really out of ideas... Hope this girl Grace gave you some information. Cheers, Sale

you can take a cab from Baiyun airport to Foshan - but it will costs you alot and especially at such late evening in the estimates of rmb300 - and that is if u are good at bargaining - but its not too safe if u are non-local and cant speak the language as some unscruplous cab drivers will take you for a ride. Its better that u stay a nite in Guangzhou city and continue yr trip in the morning as then u can take even buses which plythe route very frequently.
