Ho Chi Minh to Kunming

Hi, I will be backpacking to Yunnan for the first time in early Nov and I am on a tight budget. So I am planning to take the budget airline to Ho Chin Minh and then take a express bus to Kunming. Is that possible? And, is there any direct transport from Zhongdian to Ho Chi Minh coz I don't want to backtrack. How much would that cost?

Hi Rocrip,

I have acroossed border from Hekou of Yunnan to Laocai,and visited Sapa,and Hanoi of Vietnam last year summer.As i know,you have to take train from Hanoi or Hochiminh to Laocai,then acrossing border to Hekou of Yunnan;from Hekou you can take bus to Gejiu,finally from Gejiu to Lijian or Zhongdian.
