![]() | Hi... I will be travelling to Beijing on 17/11/06 and thereto Tianjian and Chengde. I would be using my Visa and Master card and would like to know whether credit card using chip instead of magnetic strip can be used in China or not. Besides, I would also like to know will there be a possibility that it will snow in Chengde towards the third week of November. Thanks a lot. |

![]() | either credit cards with strip or chip would be able to be used - however please note that basically most hotels and large (usually foreign-owned jv) shopping malls will accept credit cards - but not in many of the local restaurants or shops. In China, its best to carry enough cash with u at all times - unless one only shop n dine within the comfort zone of hotels. However foreign atm cards will generally be able to use to encash and esp so from Bank of China and any foreign banks. |

![]() | Be certain to notify your bank and credit card company that you will be using your credit cards in China...otherwise they might lock them to prevent fraud. |
