Hi folks
I was recently offered a position in Nanjing teaching at a public school. The apartment is paid for, all utilities included, and the tax-free salary is 8000RMB. Can you help me out here... How much could I reasonably save from that each month without living like a monk? I'm not familiar with the cost of living in Nanjing and need some info on that.

THANKS

Yourself, possibly. But probably not your entire family, especially if you're not going to be on a Chinese living style.

Trust me, you will live a budget life on the salary. How long will the intership going to be, or to be frank, how long are you going to live on rmb2300 per month?

CNY 6400 is far away than enough to live in Nanjing for a year. You can try to decrease the accommodation cost. Why don't you live in the school dorm? It will be much cheaper, about CNY 1,000-5,000 per year, yes per year. In that case, the remainings should be enough if you don't live a luxury life.

Is CNY 7,300 going to cover the accommodation and all other daily cost for your family? If so, I don't think it's enough.
