Im planning on training from Beijing to Guangzhou on the 30/12/06. Should i buy tickets through a company now and have them sent to where im staying or do you think some will still be availiable a few days before departure?

Thanks

The calendar New Year is not a major event but once you have travel plans it is always best to get them as early as you can, or at least place the order so the agent can get them for you. Train tickets sell out quickly.

If you haven't already found the schedules here in TCG, click on the Search button at the top right, then you will see train schedules on the left of the window that is displayed. It is always good to know the options before going to the agent.

Beijing West -- Guangzhou East:
T97 (1247--1101) 22h14min

Beijing West -- Guangzhou:
T29 (1328--1156) 22h28min
T15 (1819--1637) 22h18min

Beijing -- Guangzhou:
T91/T94 (2209--2019) 22h30min

Hard sleeper would cost 428/443/458 RMB for upper/middle/lower bunk, soft sleeper would cost 675/705 RMB.
In case you need a recommendation for a reliable ticket agent who charges reasonably, email Richard Tian at public3.bta.net.cn|richards and ask him to help.
