I have been chatting with a chinesse person for a long time now. Finally booked a 3 month trip so we can meet and get to know each other. She is very honest person it seems. Church person etc. However English tradtion in relatiosnhip forwardness can be quite different. So can I ask how I would expect this to effect me. ie Does the man pay for meals /everything. sex?

You must provide information to get good answers...but you should fear the wrath of Pinebeetle...errrrr...I mean Pinetree. Does she speak English? Do you speak Chinese? How old are you? How old is she? The man always pays for everything. Sex? If you must ask the answer is no.

Assuming she is not desperate for a white guy (white guy = money = financial security), and is your normal everyday gal. Sure, u can do whatever u want with her. But be prepared for the consequences. Research indicates that men think about sex 99.9% of the time. While women think about falling in love, swept off their feet by a knight, live happily ever after. So if u r not married with wife and kids, is prepared to have her knocking at your door someday or u plan to marry her, go ahead (not like u need my blessings anyway)... LOL!

I surpose what I meant are they like many in other Sian countries ive been to like thailand. They seem to be prim and proper and genuine. I have not been yet but just something that occurred to me. She is 25. Im not going for the long haul with her. But wondered how others have found trying to get on with this culture.

Well said Griz!!!! And Samp, you are being honest if you say you are not in it for the long haul...make sure you tell her. The women are generally more conservative but there is also a growing number of 'modern' girls. So generally sex is often off the menu, or comes later in the relationship. Many females will not even take your arm to get out of a car or to cross a road, the old fashioned courtesies of the west. In my experience most are happy to discuss the relationship...like at home probably, so be honest. As you are the westerner with more money you should expect to pay most of the time... I generally insist with my male freinds too. This is contrary to Chinese culture where the host should pay or at least you take it in turns. But because there is such a big difference in incomes and wealth I set this as my standard... and it is generally accepted after the obligatory struggle.
