Hello. I'm traveling to Guangzhou next week and staying for 2 weeks. I really want to see the scenic natural beauty of China. Can anybody recommend which places near Guangzhou I should travel? I want to see beautiful mountains, jungles/forests, beautiful scenery etc. I'm willing to travel 2-4 hours if it's worth it. Also can you explain how to reach these destinations and what type of things I should bring? Thanks!

Take a bus to Yangshuo, near Guilin. Have a look at http://www.yangers.com for more good information about the place and etc.

THanks for the info!! This is kind of not related to the post - but if you flying from Toronto to China - do you normally take any vaccines or do anything medical wise before you leave? Thanks

About 2 hours west of Gaungzhou is a small city called Zhaoqing. It sits between the Pearl River and the 7 Crags Park set in a lake. The 7 Crags Park is well worth a visit (omit the summer garden unless you have spare time). A short distance further west is a National Park, (sorry I forget its name), you can catch a local bus from Gaungzhou. This is excellent scenery, you can walk up the valley passing the waterfalls. True it's a not 'wild' but it's easy access and very enjoyable.

If you go to Zhaoqing, my top picks would be Seven Star Crags and Dinghushan.
