We were told (by an American friend who has spent considerable time in Shenzhen) that when you move to a new home, you are expected to hold a big dinner at your home for your acquaintances and neighbors. Is this the case? We don't mind doing it - I think it's a great idea, but if it contradicts soem tradition we don't know about, I'd like to know that. Thanks!

it isn't ture, if fact Shenzhen people isn't very hospitable, just somebody who buy house newly should hold a dinner for acquaintances, meanwhile the acquaintances need to bring gift to the host, usually the guests exclude neighbours.
