Hong Kong - ChengDu vua yangshuo and Kunming

Hi I am returning to china to work in Chengdu. I have real good friends in Yangshuo and Kunming. Whats the best and cheapest way to get to Chengdu from Hong Kong and to visit friends on the way? Clearly it has to be a choice between the bus and the train. Thanks

Hey there,
Ive done the trip a couple times myself.
Cheapest and quickest way is....
Hongkong - Guangzhou by train,
Gaungzhou to Guillin - Overnight train (book in advance!)
Guillin - Nanning - Bus ( 4 hours 80 RMB)
Nanning to Kunming (overnight train)
Kunming to Chengdu (overnight train

There is also a sleeper coach direct from HK to Yangshuo which are first class. Compares with the train in quality.
