First of all this is my draft schedule: Nov 24 evening: arrive in HK Nov 25-26: Visit HK and Macau (is this too short ?) Nov 27: take bus or plane to Guangzhou, visit Guangzhou (or HK, depending on time of day I leave HK) Nov 28: Guangzhou -Shanghai by plane; sightseeing in either Shanghai or in Guangzhou, depending on the time of the flight Nov 29-30: Shanghai Dec 1: Shanghai - Guilin by plane; sightseeing in either Shanghai or Guilin depending on the time of the flight Dec 2: Guilin Dec 3+4: Yangshuo (is this too long?) Dec 5: Guilin-Kunming by plane; Kunming sightseeing Dec 6: Kunming Dec 7: Kunming - Dali by plane Dec 8: Dali Dec 9: Dali-Lijiang by bus Dec 10: Lijiang - Zhongdian by bus Dec 11: Zhongdian - Kunming by plane; leave China from Kunming Here are the questions: 1. Is this schedule realistic and what would you change (i.e. spend more time in one place, less in another, cancel one place, add another) ? My goal is to see as much as possible in a limited time - not planning to get deeply immersed into the local culture. 2. Can I save time by flying from HK to Guangzhou or will a bus get there earlier ? 3. How can I book the flights (Guangzhou-Shanghai, Shanghai-Guilin, Guilin-Kunming, Kunming-Dali and Zhongdian-Kunming) ? 3a. Should I do this in HK or Shanghai ? 3b. Will it be possible to book short term ? 3c. Should I book from Germany ? 4. The LP guide gives the following prices for the flights (in Yuan): HK-Guangzhou: 510 Guangzhou-Shanghai: 1160 Shanghai-Guilin: 1190 Guilin-Kunming: 770 Kunming-Dali: 340 Zhongdian-Kunming: 560 Will I get these prices or pay more/less ? 5. Would it be possible to book a car+driver in Dali to go up to Zhongdian in a couple of days and how much will it cost? Alternatively, are there tours available in Dali for that ? 6. Will it be possible to get to Zhongdian overland on Dec 10 or will most likely the road be blocked by the snow ? 7. How cold does it get in Zhongdian around Dec 10-11 ? 8. Will it be easy to find accomodation in all places I mentioned, or will advance booking be advisable ? -- AM
