He is an American. Once in a class, he stared at the text book for quite a long time, puzzled by something we guess, but waiting in silence. Suddenly, a voice broke the silence:' is it interesting to do \|s\| \|th\|? (he spoke the phonetic sound of TH as in THING). We realized that he is trying to read the phrase 'be interested in sth' here 'sth' is an abbreviation for something, in fact, they speak the same. 'Smart people', he said, quite released. Have you encountered PROBLEMS of this kind? :)
