Yes, a powerfiul image of how ugly billboards are! I am always hoping China won't copy the excesses of the west.... such visual pollution won't help create the harmonious society that the government talks about and that we teach to all young people.

Near the same location as the previous outdoor advertising sign, was this one, which I also viewed with much interest.

While it also had an economic message, I could not miss the theme of national/regional pride and accomplishment. These signs are viewed by thousands, who pass by each day, and I found them to be quite effective tools of mass-media message communication.

I find all aspects of the Chinese culture so very interesting !!!! :)

This one, which I took three years ago, is still one of my favorites. I think this has got to stir feelings of both national pride/regional economic vitality for the citizens !! I know that as I viewed it from the beautiful park, across the street, in front of the main government building in Nanning, I could feel its visual power. I wonder, if President Hu Jintao, has since been added to this structure ?? Maybe someone who lives in Nanning, or has been there for travel recently, will know ?? :)

I'm not a fan of billboards anywhere...but the first one smelled American.
