guest16954	To my regular member friends here at TCG....... The are many who present advertisements for their goods and/or services here, who do so in a manner that is respectful of this community. Many of these are local Chinese who offer guide and/or translation services for the traveler who is new to China. I know, I found these services very helpful on my first two trips to China; and it provided me with a great level of comfort, to have someone who spoke the language, introduce me to the country. Moreover, the cost was not much at all, considering all the benefit I derived from the professional service. Having said that, there have been some advertisers, trying to sell other products/services, who have been very aggressive and have at times, for lack of a better word, have ‘bullied’ themselves into these Forum pages, in a very annoying manner and in a way that is very disrespectful to the legitimate members and the Community as a whole. With the recent changes to the face and makeup of the TCG Forum, and the resulting special section dedicated herein for an advertiser to place his/her ad, there is now less opportunity or excuse for such ads to be ‘dumped’ within the primary thread pages of the Forum. Having said that, I wanted to bring to other members attention, something that I witnessed in the past couple of days, and that caught my ‘trained’ eye !! LOL. Under the ‘camouflage’ of a legitimate new thread, an individual/group attempted, in quite a [sophisticated] manner, to slip some pure advertising into the forum, thinking it would go unnoticed for what it was !! They did so, using several [techniques] to give the ad ‘cover’ as a legitimate new thread/post. These aspects included, the inclusion of photos to the photo gallery at the same time as their post; an avatar which seemed to be legitimate/relevant to the community; and also, a reference to their previous contribution to the forum (to add more legitimacy) which if one investigated further, was in title only, and when you clicked on it, it was in reality an empty thread, with a comment of, “we are still in the process of writing this item“. I was really amazed at the amount of time, effort, and thought that went into such a deception, only to gain exposure for their product within this Forum !! The Moderators obviously dealt with it quickly; and many of you may not have even been aware of its existence, which now is only a shadow of what it first was. I am taking the time to write this, because as 'Jabarootoo' has stated previously in an adjunct thread, to raise other members consciousness that we must always be alert to those who may want to take advantage of the many good natured people who utilize this beautiful Forum !! Happy Chinese New Year to all !!
