She is orgainlly from Mongola and is working as a English translator in Beijing. We both feel same and want to set up our lifes together. She has no passport currently. She is happy to come to England and live here. Has anybody had an experince of getting your chinese girlfriend into the country and if so how do you go about it.. Any idea of costs or about visas. It all seems so complex. Is it hard?? Regards Sam

Hello, I am not an expert on your situation, as you are a UK citizen. I am very familiar with the USA process which is quite involved and has many steps, to obtain either a fiancee or spousal visa.

One of my wife's close friends has recently married a man from England, so I do know, first hand, that the UK process is much faster than the USA process, 2 to 3 months vs. 9 to 12 months in the US. There is a wealth of information available on-line and for contact with your regional Consular Office. Also, you might see if there is an on-line support group forum in the UK for individuals like yourself. There is one in America called Visa Journey. Here is some info from a govt. website for the UK to get you started:

You can apply for a visa in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Chongqing.

The UK Visa Application Centres in the catchment area of the British Embassy in Beijing handle visa applications from people living in northern, central and western China.

Residents of Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu should apply at the UK Visa Application Centres in the consular catchment area of the British Consulate-General in Shanghai.

Residents of Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Hainan should apply at the UK Visa Application Centres in the consular catchment area of the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou.

Residents of Chongqing Municipality, and the provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan should submit their applications at the UK Visa Application Centre in Chongqing or Chengdu.

APAULT Points: Join Date: Mar 11, 2006 Status: Offline	Yes, visit the UK Immigration website. A friend of mine recemtly went through the proecdure from within UK. There didnt seem too much of a problem.
