So I know the best way to learn a language is to move to the country. I am planning on moving to China in the summer, however I would like a little base knowledge before I go, right now I cant even say hi. I was hoping to get my hands on some software to pick up some basic Mandarin. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any personal experiences or information you have would be helpful.

Thanks

Ni Hao !! (nee-how)
Chinese for hi or hello. if you add 'ma' to the end, it means how are you doing today? :)

There are many options Ann, but this is one that is very highly rated and easy to obtain.

‘Rosetta Stone’ soft ware.

The good: Windows and Mac compatible; uses only the target language; money-back guarantee; excellent support package.

The bad: Pricey. (sometimes on sale at the large shopping malls)

The bottom line: Rosetta Stone's software is a well-designed interactive learning tool that does an excellent job of immersing you in a foreign language.
