You might want to check out the Guangzhou International Seamen's Club. It is across the river from the White Swan Hotel where the old American Embassy was.I stay there 2 years ago and it was very clean,large room with double full size beds,tea pot and a small refrigerator. At the time it cost me 125 RMB a night and I had a GREAT view of the river and boats at night.Many of the boats are lit up with many colored lights.Check my photos I have posted on here.
