The entrance is opposite, and close to the entrance of the lake and Mosque complex, and adjacent to an area for dinning on a river or canal. The lake and gardens are beautiful, the Teahouse offers performances, and there are cultural delights - such as a ride in a traditional Chinese Carriage supported by men in Traditional costumes, and accompanied by a loud banging of musical items and drums. Dear my friends, what is the name of the place?

The rear of the Forbidden City, about 1 km north.... Sounds like Beihai Park/北海公园. Don't know about a mosque in the area, but as the name suggests, the park is definitely built around a lake. There's an island in the middle with a large white dagoba on top. It is immediately west of Jingshan Park/景山公园. The rest of what you describe doesn't mean much to me, but based on those directions, that's my best guess. Hope it helps.
