![]() | The readjustment of Chinese Lawful Holidays are under inspection now. It concerns whether or not to shorten May 1 and October 1 holidays and increase some traditional chinese holidays such as Chinese New Year Eve, Mid-autumn Day, Qingming Festival (April 5) and Dragon Boat Festival. It is reported that the later policy is sure to be passed, which aims at widepreading the Chinese traditional cultures, and it may be enforced in 2008. And according to the rule of 'Constructional Readjustment while retaining its whole days', the May 1 and Oct. 1 Holidays may be shortened, while the Chinese NEw Year Holiday which is in accordance with the Chinese traditions may remain the same. And the lengthening of holidays, though pointing out by some representatives, may be hard to carry out. And the readjustment also include some obligatory rewarding holidays in summer or winter. |

![]() | Hi, I think these traditional Chinese festivals should be included in the lawful holidays. They are a vital part of Chinese culture which is in risk now. Generally, most of the young generation in China have forgotten how these festivals came as well as the special signification. One or two days' holiday annually may help them to realize Chinese great and splendid cultural heritages. On the other hand, at present, there are only three long lawful holidays in China, so lots of people swarm into these peak tourist cities (actually every city is crowded). Instead of enjoying one's holiday, it is a suffering tourist experience. At the same time, the price of hotels, restaurants, dinner, transportation is much higher than usually. You have to spend double, treble or even more mony on your trip. So, more hilodays are urgently needed. |

![]() | Yes, more holidays ! Seriously, the congestion is so great that they need to be spread out. Most countries have some standard cultural holidays, but workers then choose when to have the rest of their entitlement. Doesn't that give the greates flexibility and spread the travel load? |
