Belief in fate ocurres in late age of life. people in their robust years are not able to predict what is going to happen to themselves tomorrow.

Had a young lady (ahem) , while in Hong Kong, read my palm back in 1967 and foretold of future prospects. Said I should return and we could work as partners.
At the time, I took what was said with a "grain of salt"
Looking back, most of what was predicted came true.
Geez.......I don't know.

you are not that old Gary, i believe from your words. in the mid-way of life, people go into the forest and easy to be lost. it's good for you having a friend (Chinese saying it's rarely having a real friend in lifetime) at this point to guide each other.

Fate? Destiny? People in adversity are prone to fatality. In the feudal China, the rulers adopt religious propaganda of fatality to fool the subjects to be obedient.

You have a point LEONARDO, that philosophy has been used in the past and continues in the present.
Religion can be used for or against people.
More conflicts have been started over differences of religious belief than for any other reason.
Not that I have any thing against religion per say, but it can used as a "mind control" game.

My Chinese girlfriend few months ago told me she didnt want relationship with me and never to contact her again, wouldnt give me any reason, just its over We had planned where to go in China and because of her I had to make plans to go to other places for my trip in April/May.

The other day I found an old notebook with our plans for the trip we should have taken, it centred around Chengdu and a place I had never heard of but she said was nice, Wenchuan. It sent a shiver down my spine.

It was fate that I wasn't meant to be there. Instead I was in Hunan and safe.

Dave, it implies a profound lesson that a traveller can tell.
