One small note to avoid any more confusion: It's usually referred to as the J-10. It seems the government decided to just stick with 'jian' in Hanyu Pinyin rather than translate it, therefore it's called the Jian-10 or J-10 in English.

Otherwise, very interesting post. I haven't seen too much information about the J-10 other than announcements that it has been successfully developed and will be deployed.

really?
i think foreign countries have their own standard to call chinese weapons or equipment.
For example
091 submarine, they call it "Han Ji"
406 submarine, they call it "Xia Ji"
039---"Song Ji"
035---"Ming Ji"'

all of these appellations cann't eb seen in Chinese internal military magazines.
and i'm sure foreign military specialist call our "Jian-10" as "F-10"

2、Affect the operational effectiveness of a state of perceptual abilities

Perceptual abilities is a very important combat conditions, but often been overlooked.

Simply put, for air battle perceptual abilities is the ability that a pilot could learn the location of the enemy.
That means whether the enemy can be detected firstly, know the relative position in flying at any time, which determines the pilot’s ability of correct decision-making, and lead him beat to the draw.

In the age of pistons fighters, perceptual abilities rely on the cooperation between formats and the sight of cabin. Now in the modern air combat, radar and aircraft sensor are other factors.

From the angle of systematic operations in combat, there should be early warning and data-chain factors additionally.

The sight of F-10’s cockpit is significantly better than any other fighters in the past, even more outstanding than Mig-29, Mirage 2000, but compared with F-15, F-16, F/A-18 or any other U.S. fighters, F-10 gets worse.

At present, I don’t know the specific type and performance of the F-10 radar, but seeing from the radome, F-10 use the Doppler radar, which is similar as U.S. APG-66/68.

The capacity of PD ordinary mechanical scanning radar in close battles is limited, if the F-10’s radar is outstanding in signal processing, its target-tracking capability will be better than Russian fighters, equal to U.S. F-15, F-16, which do not fix the modified phased array radar. If the pilot is equipped with helmet aiming device, his control response ability will be better than most fighters. But if the F-15, F-16 are equipped with modified helmet display system, their advantages will be more obvious.

Frankenstein, the only reports I've read on this subject all refer to this fighter as either Jian-10 or J-10. I don't know about the examples you give, but those names don't look like anything any 'foreigner' would give to any weaponry, Chinese or otherwise.
