Hello everyone!

I was in Shenzhen in 2005 and opened a bank account at the Shenzhen branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (SZICBC). Really it was not too difficult. With my dictionary in tow, I was able to communicate (pantomime and point really), obtained an application, and had a trusted friend fill it out in Chinese.

My question is, How long do these ICBC accounts remain active?

and

Are there ICBC branches in Shanghai?

I am going to Shanghai in May and would like to use their banking services.

Cheers and thanks in advance,

Publius

1. it will remain untill you cancel it yourself.
2.ICBC is everywhere here in China. But if you use it in Shanghai, the comission will be charged.

ICBC is a strong chinese bank in Hongkong with asian business, and offers RMB accounts and credit card facility. i think they can deal with the overseas relationship from Hong Kong too. They are present in most of the chinese cities.

Thank you for the good advice everyone!

I will follow May001's advice and open a Shanghai branch account.
