We're actual in Shangahi but we want to go to Halong/Vietnam on 1st of April.
As there are no flight available (or available flights to Hanoi are really costly) we thought about buy a ticket to Beihai.

Does anybody know how we can go on from there to Halong?
I read something about a bus between Beihai and Halong. But I couldn't find any details (how often, how long does it take, when will the bus start).

Thank you for any information!

Best regards
Sven

Yes, I've also heard about a ferry service from Beihai to Halong city. From Halong city, you can take the public bus to Hanoi which is very cheap. But u need to speak Vietnamese to ask where to board the bus etc.

Alternatively, from Halong, just walk into a travel agency and buy a (tourist) bus ticket to Hanoi. The journey from Halong-Hanoi is around 4hrs.

Thank you. It seems that's quite new, the ferry schedule seems not available on internet. Also not sure if its a cruise or a just a ferry.

High-speed Ferry Opens between China and Vietnam

Jan. 2, 2004

The first high-speed passenger shipping line between China and Vietnam has opened.

The line, linking Fangchenggang city, in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Ha Long, Vinh, in Quang Ninh, Vietnam,is expected to promote tourism and economic cooperation between the two countries.

It is the first time Vietnam has opened its inland sea to foreign vessels.

The 80-mile route will be jointly run by the two countries and will take three hours on a high-speed ferry.
