I made a post earlier about the same topic. I have done some research and with the help of some of the community members (especially Stocktov) I made up a more specific schedule. How does it look?

I have about 17 days to work with. I have from July 7th to July 24rd. My plane arrives 9:00PM July 6th in Shanghai and is scheduled to leave July 23rd. The schedule below accounts for 16 days. I think it is good to leave one day open as buffer/emergency day.

Shanghai (3 days) -- train -- Hangzhou (2 days) -- overnight train -- Zhengzhou (2 days) -- Juoyang (2 days) -- train -- Xian (3 days) --- overnight Z train --- Beijing (3 days)

Beijing: (1) Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Zhongshan Park, Wangfujing Night Food Market, (2) Great Wall (Get Guide, cruise from Jinshanling to Simatai), (3) Panjiayuan Market, (3) Hutong Bicycle Ride

Xian: (1) Mt. Huashan (2) Great Mosque, Muslim District (Kebobs at Night), Shaan Xi Museum, Bike ride on city wall.

Luoyang: Longment Grottoes

Hhangzhou: Longjing Tea Hills, West Lake

Shanghai: Old Town of Shanghai, Yu Yuan Gardens/Bazaar, Nanjing Lu Street

Zhengzhou: Day trip to Shaolin Temple

Thanks for the help!

Hi,Brett,

In Beijing, you can't miss the Summer Palace, and Heaven Temple:-)

For Xi'an,Terre Cotta Worriors must be in your list.

Xian: (1) Mt. Huashan (2) Great Mosque, Muslim District (Kebobs at Night), Shaan Xi Museum, Bike ride on city wall.

How many days do you want to plan on visiting Mt. Huashan? Will you go there by yourself or on a package? I suggest two days there. But it's ok if you just have one day.

I do want to include Summer Palace and Heaven Temple, but I decided to skip Terracotta Warriors. Thanks for the suggestions!

I was going to spend one whole day there and I would probaly go there by myself by taking a bus. Is there a way to stay at the mountain itself? I would love to stay for two days, including watching the sun rise.
