Well. They are precious because they are very old and witnessed the history of PRC. The third, the fourth and the fifth are for commemoration of the establishment of PLA, the liberation and independence of PRC. For those who got the badges, it is the greatest honor. They made great contribution and sacrifice for PRC. To them, those badges have special meanings.

Whether it is pretty or not is not important. The key is the special meaning of them. They are not pretty because they are too old.
