Have you ever dreamed of becoming a Super Star?Or are you a fan of one of the pop icons?
Aroused by the Super Girl elective show in Hunan satellite television, more and more elective shows have appreared in Chinese domestic televisins. Actually, common people especially young people usually have a dream to become a pop star. They want to become famous! Those elective shows offer them an opportunity to show their personality.
Seeing from this, we can see Chinese people today are more extrovert and tend to show themselves. In this way, I think traditional Chinese culture has been changing these years, right?

It's true that many young gilrs and boys are dreaming to be famous in today's China. Personally, it's a little bit blind to do so.

To be a common person is more happy than a super star. Isn't it?

Jim, you said the traditional Chinese culture have been changed in recent years. It makes sense in some way, while not completely I think.

The changes between 1978 when I first visited China and the summer of 2006 were beyond dramatic.

Of course the cities are modern now...but the most dramatic change is in the behavior of the people.

I think most people dream of success when they are young. Chin's current social and economic climate enables many to have dreams that are more grand compared with their parents and grandparents. Some options may be superficial - to us old folks, but each generation has to make its own way. The current Chinese genration will take on more foreign culture and Chinese culture will change, not disappear.

Your description makes me think of the 'Lost Generation' in the American literature, I think the blind pursuit of fame, success, and wealth, such like material things is really harmful for the young. We should have a long term goal and achieve it step by step, only from which can we have a true feeling of self-recognization and achievements.
