You might want to consider taking the earliest D train, D5459 (0627--0709) and then a taxi to Pudong airport. I'm sure you'll arrive at the airport before 0830, which should be reasonable.

Thanks Ellyse . May I know what would be a reasonable estimate for the cost of taxi to Pudong airport from the train station? Btw, which station would that be? Is it easy to catch the taxi at that time? Any precaution to take when taking taxi in Shanghai? Tips, etc?

Thank you so much for your invaluable assistance and advise.

I would expect a taxi fare of about 160-180 RMB, depending on traffic conditions.
Trains from Suzhou will arrive at Shanghai main train station.
There's a dedicated taxi queue in the basement of the train station (under the south square) so catching a taxi isn't a problem.
No tipping for taxis.

GUEST92100 Just wondering, is it also viable to take a morning taxi all the way from Suzhou to Pudong airport? Will it be very expensive and easy to find taxi?

Thanks again.

That would depend on what you consider "very expensive". I would expect it not too easy to find a taxi driver who'd drive out of the city on the fly.

GUEST69729 hi,

I am planning to travel to Suzhou directly from Shanghai Pu Dong airport. My flight lands at 15:30 so I expect to catch the 17:00 airport shuttle bus. Can you tell me what time I should expect to arrive in Suzhou (i've read it takes 2-3 hours)? Also where exactly in Suzhou does the shuttle bus drop passengers? ( Is it the north long bus distance station on Chezan Lu, the south long bus distance station on nanhuan donglu or is it Guanqian Jie pedestrian street in the middle of town?

thanks
