APAULT Points: Join Date: Mar 11, 2006 Status: Offline	In Wuzishou I styed in the hotel opposite the bus station. price 70 or 80 rmb, rooms were quite good value. Just a bit further up the road is the uni which has about 4 foreign teachers who are happy to chat and enjoy a beer. Just back down the road look for some steps down between the buildings - great BBQ area. Nice little town. Cheap Hotel in Haikou...see my travel tip.

Wuzhishan
Yes I stayed the hotel opposite the bus station too and paid Y100 after they asked Y120. Looks good from the outside but very tired inside. I showed them a photo of the room I'd had the night before for which I happily paid Y120 and since there was no comparison they quickly offered me a rebate. There is another hotel about 500mts up the street just before crossing the bridge into town. If you turn the corner to the right here and follow the river you will come to several other hotels including one called the Holiday Inn Resort (not related to the international chain however) that look nice but more expensive. There are also some small and I'm sure cheaper guesthoused in town if you know what to look for.

In Haikou,
I stayed at the Banana Hostel which is new, clean and cheap.

I had a private room for Y70 during Spring festival, cheaper off season

Located on Renmin Lu it has pretty good access to downtown, bus stations etc. Another hostel is Haikou Youth Hostel on Taihua Lu

Contrary to what you may be told there are plenty of hotels, guesthouses in all the smaller cities on Hainan, however Lingao was the only place I can say that I didn't actually see any but they must have some.

You shouldn't have to pay over Y120 anywhere on the island for really nice rooms.
