Manchester United's winger Cristiano Ronaldo and Chelsea's striker Didier Drogba have been nominated for Player of the Year organized by the Professional Football Association. Manchester United dominated the six-man shortlist with Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs also among nominations. But they still face competition from Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard and Arsenal's midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Ronaldo and Fabregas are also in line for the Young Player of the Year award. The other nominees for the junior award include Reading striker Kevin Doyle, Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon, Manchester City defender Micah Richards and the winner of the award for the last two years, Wayne Rooney. Thierry Henry collected the senior title in both 2003 and 2004 while Chelsea's defensive star John Terry was the 2005 recipient. And last year the accolade belonged to Liverpool talisman Gerrard. With voting among the players themselves now finished, the winner in each category will be revealed at the end of a gala dinner in London on Sunday night.
